Scherzo - October 2009
Written by Alisa Willis
scherzo-oct09The Diplomatic Music Critic Exposed (What he really thinks)
  • This evening’s performance was sensational (but not pleasant sensations)
  • In fact it brought tears to my eyes (of agony and frustration)
  • The ensemble’s rendition of Bach’s trio sonata truly moved me (to the foyer for a stiff drink)
  • Their interpretation of the Allegro was freshly unique (nobody else would want to play it that way!)
  • The flute player really stood out from the rest of the ensemble (by about a semitone)
  • piccoloA stunning visual effect was portrayed by the ensemble (thankfully, because they sounded awful)
  • As the ensemble launches this program for their national tour, I will be making some strong recommendations to my friends and colleagues (that they don’t go to hear it under any circumstances)
  • This evening’s performance will be remembered for years to come (may I suggest hypnosis as a remedy for this?)
